The work is signed in the plate by the noted French engraver Hippolyte (Polydore) Pauquet. This illustration was produced as part of a historical costume series, based on the original 16th-century designs of the Flemish master Abraham de Bruyn.

The hand-coloring remains vibrant, particularly in the deep reds of the ducal robes.
