Original unsigned oil painting on board, mid-20th century, in the cubist/modernist tradition. A stylized, abstracted female figure with a raised arm sits before an arched, vertically striped canopy in warm coral and blue tones, set within a geometric interior of color-block walls in mauve, gold, and olive. Rendered with hard black contour lines and flattened planes of color, consistent with School of Paris-influenced modernist painting of the 1940s–50s. Unsigned; artist unidentified. This work shares strong compositional and stylistic similarities, the same arched striped motif, elongated pale figure, and interior setting, with another unsigned painting from the same source, suggesting a possible common hand. Verso bears an original hand-drawn preparatory sketch depicting a stylized haloed figure -- an interesting glimpse into the artist's working process. Board measures 18" x 24" (unframed). Good vintage condition with light craquelure and surface wear consistent with age; please review photos closely as part of the description.
