Vintage Mid-Century Expressionist Anemone Floral Still Life Mixed Media Painting

Original mixed-media work, apparently watercolor with pen and ink and possibly pastel, on heavy paper, depicting a bouquet of dark-centered anemone or pansy-like blooms in red, cobalt blue, pink, and white in a cream vase. The arrangement glows within concentric halos of black, purple, blue, and magenta against a deep brown ground. The luminous color and flower-as-aura treatment recall the Expressionist and Symbolist floral tradition of Odilon Redon and Emil Nolde (no attribution to either artist implied). Unsigned; artist unidentified, date unknown, estimated 1950s–1960s. Sheet measures 11.25" x 15" (unframed). The reverse bears a faint pencil contour of the bouquet and vase along with pastel smudges and paint flecks consistent with the artist's working process. A vivid, jewel-toned floral suited to a collector of Expressionist or Symbolist-influenced flower painting.

Authentic vintage studio condition. Colors remain saturated and striking throughout. The pastel medium shows natural texture and light surface scuffing near the upper left margin, consistent with age and unglassed studio storage. Heavyweight paper stock remains flat and structurally sound. The reverse features light graphite transfer lines outlining the main vase/flower composition, along with natural studio pigment smudges and light age-toning.   Unframed; ideal size for custom matting and framing.
