Wilke Adolfsson Signed Studio Art Glass Pokal, 1987 | Swedish Orrefors Glass

A striking hand-blown studio glass pokal (footed compote/goblet form) by Swedish master glassblower Wilke Adolfsson, signed and dated 1987. Adolfsson trained and worked as a master glassblower at Orrefors from 1963–1978, co-founded Studio Stenhytta with renowned artist Ann Wärff (Wolff) in 1979, and established his own studio in Orrefors in 1983 - this piece dates from the height of that independent studio period.

The piece features a wide, flaring lilac/lavender bowl atop a clear glass stem with a decorative knop, resting on a sculptural smoke-grey conical foot. The interplay of the translucent violet bowl against the smoky base is a hallmark of Adolfsson's color-layering technique from this era.

Provenance & Background

Wilke Adolfsson is a respected name in Swedish studio art glass, closely associated with the Orrefors tradition and the influential Stenhytta glass studio movement of the late 1970s–80s alongside Ann Wärff/Wolff. His individually blown pokal and vase forms from the 1980s are sought after by collectors of Scandinavian studio glass for their sculptural silhouettes and painterly use of layered color.

Examined closely with no chips, scratches, or flea-bites to the rim, bowl, stem, or foot. No cracks or repairs. Signature is clear and legible. A superb example in original, undamaged condition.
