Kosta Boda "Galaxy Blue" 10.5" Large Bottle Vase, Bertil Vallien, Signed 48075

This is an exceptional, pristine example of modern Scandinavian studio art glass: The "Galaxy Blue" Large Bottle Vase, designed in 1982 by the legendary master glass artist Bertil Vallien (1938 – ) for Kosta Boda (Sweden). While smaller cabinet versions of the Galaxy series are frequently seen on the secondary market, this is the highly sought-after Large 10.5-inch architectural variant (Model 48075). It features an elegant, elongated neck that beautifully showcases the series' signature cosmic aesthetic. This piece stands approximately 10 3/8" tall, 1 7/8" across at the lip, and 5 1/8" across at the base.

The vase boasts a mesmerizing, iridescent mother-of-pearl mottled white glass body. It is wrapped in a delicate, fluid trail of applied liquid blue glass threading and anchored by a bold, deep cobalt glass medallion on the front face. The base features the dramatic, flat-fused dark blue glass swirl characteristic of the artisan's hand-finishing technique at the Kosta glassworks.

This piece is in exceptional vintage condition and retains all its original verification marks. The original clear "Kosta Boda Since 1742" label is still perfectly intact on the lower body. The bottom features a crisp, legible diamond-point hand-engraving that reads: Kosta Boda B. Vallien 48075. It has been meticulously cared for with no obvious defects or blemishes.
