Original double-sided painting, oil/early acrylic on board, offering two complete compositions. One side presents a bold gestural abstraction in the tradition of the CoBrA movement -- thick black interlocking lines over saturated blocks of blue, yellow, red, and orange. The reverse presents a mystical religious composition: a white-robed, cruciform figure with outstretched arms rendered in vertical rays of blue, maroon, and cream light, evocative of a crucifixion or ascension scene. Unsigned; artist unidentified. Board measures 10" x 14", unframed, with no primary "front" -- both sides are fully realized, finished paintings. A striking, rare double-sided work suited to a collector who wants two distinct paintings in one board, ideal for a stand or two-sided frame display.
Good vintage studio condition overall. Rigid double-sided board panel. Unframed, showing edge wear and paper tape residue along the right perimeter margin of the verso side, consistent with mid-century studio handling. Please inspect all high-resolution pictures to evaluate the condition, paint surface, and edge details of both sides prior to purchase.
