Original painting, oil on heavy board, depicting a seated woman with golden hair and an angular, mask-like face rendered in bold non-naturalistic color, orange, teal, and purple, her arms crossed over a striped sweater. She sits before a vivid teal, green, and yellow window or wall, with a vase of red roses on a table at her side. Rendered in thick impasto with a confident Expressionist color sensibility recalling Soutine's and Rouault's more intense figurative work. Unsigned; artist unidentified, date unknown. Board measures 18" x 24" (unframed), oil. Good vintage condition; the reverse shows overall toning and water staining consistent with age, with no inscriptions or labels present. A richly colored, confidently painted Expressionist interior suited to a collector of mid-century figurative painting. Estimated 1940s-1950s. Please review all photos closely as part of the description.
Authentic vintage studio condition. Paint layer remains intact with rich, sculptural surface texture and stable impasto throughout. Heavy board panel exhibits age-appropriate corner rubbing, edge wear, and minor surface oxidation/discoloration near the extreme margins. Back of board shows natural age-toning, faint water-staining near the top right corner edge, and expected studio handling marks that do not affect the front painted image.
